Project Status
Where the Fun-o-Matic project currently stands.
Fun-o-Matic has been used to manage the 27-seat Cyberscape Arena for over a year. It works, is a big time-saver, and collects a lot of useful data.
It's a long way from finished, though! What's working is:
- the ability to remotely control and monitor all the stations (customer PCs) in a cybercafe from a web-based user interface,
- the ability to allow customers to save and restore their computer configurations (including saved games and settings) to and from a central server, and
- the ability to do basic statistics on cybercafe operations.
There is a lot of room for adding additional features to these capabilities, but they already work.
What's not working yet:
- The database for tracking customer accounts,
- the ability to do dynamic software license management,
- an integrated front-end interface for customers to use to log themselves in and out of the cybercafe, and
- a network game browser to help customers find LAN and internet games to join within parameters set by the cybercafe owner.
